IHUG Friendship Lamps Light Up Northridge with Messages of Support
When the devastating earthquake rocked the San Fernando Valley in 1994, it struck a deep chord with the people of Northridge, California. Many homes and businesses were destroyed, leaving the community feeling helpless and alone. But in the aftermath of the disaster, one very special gesture of solidarity emerged: IHUG Friendship Lamps.
The IHUG Friendship Lamps are a set of 12 lamps, each with a unique message of hope and friendship. They were created by the IHUG Foundation, a group of dedicated volunteers who wanted to spread messages of love and support to the people of Northridge. The lamps are arranged in a circle, and each lamp is lit up in turn, beginning with the message “We are here for you.” As the day progresses, each lamp is lit up in turn, sending a message of comfort and support to the people of Northridge.
The lamps were first lit up in 1995. Since then, they have become a symbol of hope and strength in Northridge, and they have been used to celebrate special occasions, such as graduations and weddings. Every year, thousands of people gather around the lamps to show their support for the community.
The IHUG Friendship Lamps have become a beacon of light in the community. They bring a sense of comfort and unity to all who see them. They are a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, we are all connected and can help each other. The lamps are a reminder that, even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
The IHUG Friendship Lamps have become a source of inspiration and hope for the people of Northridge. They are a reminder of the strength and resilience of the community, and a reminder that in times of hardship, we can rely on each other for support and comfort.
